Household hazardous waste drop off this weekend in Ottawa

It's summertime and the time is right to clean out the basement, garage or storage locker of all the unwanted stuff you collected over the winter.

The City of Ottawa is continuing with its popular household hazardous waste collection program this year.

The second one will be on Sunday June 3 at the Waste Connections of Canada site at 3354 Navan Road between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Here is a list of things you can take to the depot:

Aerosol containers
Propane cylinders
Disinfectants
Fluorescent bulbs/tubes
Fire extinguishers
Fertilizers and pesticides
Mercury switches/thermometers
Needles and syringes
Pharmaceuticals
Paints and coatings
Oven and window cleaners
Pool chemicals

Residential hazardous electronic waste is not accepted at this location.

Recycling works! In 2017, Ottawa diverted 627 tonnes of hazardous waste from landfills.
