OC Transpo introduces new EquiFare
Christmas has come and gone for another year, but Santa has given some Ottawa residents a belated gift.
OC Transpo has announced a new EquiFare, which will allow low-income OC Transpo riders the opportunity to use the service for a discounted single-use fare of $1.75. The regular cash fare is $3.50.
The new EquiFare is meant to compliment the existing monthly EquiPass, which benefits low-income OC Transpo users who ride the bus or O Train more often.
To qualify for either pass, Ottawa residents must have a household income that falls below the low-income cut-off threshold as set annually by Statistics Canada.
You must be a registered user of either Presto or ParaPay to use the EquiPass or EquiFare. All new EquiPass or EquiFare customers will have the $6 Presto card fee covered by the City of Ottawa. All existing EquiPass holders will receive a $6 credit on their account to cover the one-time Presto card fee they originally paid when purchasing their pass.
